The Mulcasters of Essex County, Ontario, Canada
Our Mulcaster Family History starts in Irthington Parish, near Carlisle, Northern England, with Richard Mulcaster b. 1781 who married Mary Bell. They had two children Edward (b. 1805) and George. Mary Bell died soon after the birth of George and George died about 1 1/2 years. Richard then married Margaret Cousins and had 4 more children, Rachel (b. 1809), Margaret (b. 1812), Richard (b 1814) and George (b. 1816).
In 1828 Edward Mulcaster came to Canada and married Esther Cottrell. He would later move to Essex County with his children in 1873 and died in Essex County 1878.
Edward Henderson Mulcaster (b. 1850) sailed to Canada in 1885 on the HMS Montreal and landing at the Port of Halifax. From Halifax he made his way to Wisconsin and married Gertrude Bensley in 1891. They named their son George Henderson Mulcaster.
This Edward Henderson Mulcaster was the son of George Mulcaster (b. 1816) and Hannah Henderson. George was the half brother of Edward Mulcaster who came to Canada in 1828.
These two families never made contact.
